A 50-year-old man has been remanded at His Majesty’s Prison for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Ed Archibald of Old Runaway was arrested by police on Saturday, April 12, and brought before the Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 14.
He pleaded guilty to the charges and will learn his sentence today as Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel has reserved her decision.
Police were patrolling Thames Street when they saw Archibald, approached him and conducted a search. They found a black Ruger .380 auto pistol and six rounds of ammunition in his possession.
However, Archibald, who was represented by attorney Leon Symister, informed the court he was en route to the police station to surrender the illegal weapon and ammunition under the current gun amnesty program.
