Fans witnessed on Saturday night decisive volleyball action at the YMCA Sports Complex, with Jets and Stoneville each securing victories in the ABAVA Division One.
In the opening contest, Jets triumphed with a dominant straight-sets against Royal Cruisers in Women’s action, winning 25-21, 25-20, 25-21 in a match lasting an hour and 30 minutes. The Jets controlled the tempo throughout, never allowing the Cruisers to build momentum.
The second match featured a captivating four-set battle between Stoneville1 and Storming Lions in the Men’s Division. Stoneville claimed victory with scores of 25-19, 16-25, 25-23, and 25-21 in a contest that stretched to an hour and 35 minutes.
After taking the first set comfortably, Stoneville faced resistance in the second as Storming Lions equalized. However, Stoneville showed remarkable resilience to edge two closely-contested final sets, including a nail-biting 25-23 third set that proved pivotal to the outcome.
