- National tennis pro, Jody Maginley, created a bit of history on Sunday, becoming the first Antiguan to win an ATP Challenger 75 Tour event when he joined forces with Cuba’s Alfredo Perez to claim the Morelos Open held in Morelos, Mexico. In the process, Maginley also became the highest ranked Caribbean player with a live ATP ranking of 260.
The duo of Maginley and Perez, had the better of Great Britain pair, Finn Reynolds and James Watt 7-5, 6-7, 10-8 in the final to claim the coveted tittle.
Maginley, following the final, label the feat ‘unforgettable’ while thanking all who would have supported him along the way.
“Unforgettable week winning my first ATP Challenger Tour title alongside Alfredo Perez. Thank you to everyone that’s believed in me and supported me along the way. Honored to be putting on the map ,” he posted via social media.
