Post-mortem on Chantel Crump concluded, results not disclosed

Police have confirmed that the autopsy on the body of nine-year-old Chantel Crump was completed on Friday, April 4 although the results have not yet been disclosed.

The child’s body was discovered in the Weatherills area on March 15 after she was kidnapped in the Gray’s Farm area days before. The tragic incident sent shockwaves through the community and prompted nationwide grief.

Twenty-year-old Angela Mejia was charged with Chantel’s murder and was subsequently remanded to prison until her next court appearance on June 4.

According to reports, it was Mejia who directed the authorities to the location where the child’s remains was found.

Chantel was last seen on Wednesday, March 12, after she got off a school bus with friends.

Witnesses report that she entered a silver car that had pulled up beside her, then waved goodbye to her companions.

The abduction occurred a short distance away from her home.

Law enforcement officials indicate that the investigation remains active.
