Silver Airways ends flights to Dominica amid bankruptcy restructuring

As part of the restructuring, Silver has also terminated flights to other destinations, including Orlando.

The cancellation of flights to Dominica will impact travellers, with bookings for trips through August 2025 being cancelled.

This decision raises concerns in the USVI, where Silver plays a vital role in inter-island and regional travel, and where a significant Dominican diaspora resides  the Virgin Islands Consortium reported.

Silver’s relationship with Dominica had grown over the years, with the airline increasing its San Juan-Dominica service to daily flights by 2019.

In 2023, Silver upgraded its aircraft from a 34-seat Saab 340 to a 48-seat ATR, expanding flights to six per week. This expansion significantly contributed to Dominica’s tourism sector by providing 102 additional weekly seats, according to the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA).

The DDA has not yet responded to this latest development.

Despite the cuts, Silver Airways said they remain optimistic about the ongoing restructuring efforts. The airline stated in December 2024 the “decision will allow us to secure additional capital and strengthen our position as a competitive airline.”
