Saint John’s Antigua, February 18th, 2025 – Sandals Grande Antigua is celebrating the well deserved promotions of three exceptional Antiguan team members, as the company continues to invest in the development and growth of local talent and leadership. They are – Jhavline Patrick, Meria Govia, and Vanessa Leitch who have risen through the ranks to assume key management positions within the resort.
Patrick, who holds an executive master’s degree in General Management and has worked at the resort for the last 14 years, has been promoted from administrative assistant to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) manager. In her new role she will now spearhead the resort’s efforts in implementing environmental sustainability initiatives, maintaining hygiene and safety standards, and conducting comprehensive risk assessments, providing recommendations for corrective action.
Govia who started out as a playmaker in the entertainment department and later transitioned to assistant weddings and events manager, has now been confirmed as Head of the resort’s prestigious Club Sandals department. Govia, who holds a Bachelor’s of Administration in Hospitality Management, was also among the recent graduates of the Sandals Corporate University’s Diploma in Hospitality Leadership. As Club Sandals manager, Govia will oversee all aspects of the club experience, including amenities, guest relations, and special request coordination. Her expertise in creating memorable events and her ability to build strong relationships will be invaluable in enhancing the exclusive club offering’s for guest at the resort.
Leitch who has been in the industry for over 20 years has been promoted from assistant bars manager to Bars Manager. Her experience and proficiency in managing bar operations, inventory control, and beverage service have earned her this leadership position. She will now be responsible for the seamless operation of all bars within the resort, ensuring that guests enjoy exceptional beverage experiences. She holds a diploma in Management and a certificate in Supervisory and Managerial Skills.
The trio, who are elated and ready to transition into their new management roles, shared their excitement on their promotions.
“I was honestly shocked, when I heard the news and could not contain the excitement and satisfaction I felt within. I am appreciative to the executive team and look forward to really continuing to enhance our resort’s EHS focus”, Patrick said.
Meria Govia also said, “I am humbled and ready to take on this opportunity given to me by Sandals to further develop myself as leader and most importantly develop the team I’m responsible for leading, as they are our future leaders.”
General Manager, David Latchimy shared that these promotions not only reflect their dedication and hard work within the company, but also underscores the resort’s commitment to fostering talent and providing opportunities for local team members to advance. “As they transition into their new roles, they are eager to contribute to the continued success of the resort while mentoring and guiding their team members, embodying that spirit of leadership and excellence that defines our company culture. Since the start of 2025, a number of line team members have also been promoted including Tamika Hatchett, Atelisha Rodney and Samantha Lovell who were promoted to restaurant supervisors, and Courtney Anthony who was promoted to restaurant manager.
