Antiguan Deported from U.S. as Another Awaits Court Hearing—Ambassador Sanders Confirms

Antigua and Barbuda’s Ambassador to the United States, Sir Ron Sanders, has confirmed that one Antiguan has been deported from the U.S., while another remains in custody awaiting a court hearing.

According to Ambassador Sanders, as of his last update before February 7, two Antiguans were in U.S. immigration detention. One of them was deported on February 7, while the other is awaiting legal proceedings that will determine whether they will be deported or remain in the country.

Ambassador Sanders also addressed claims that 110 Antiguans and Barbudans are listed as “non-detained and ready for deportation.” However, when he inquired about the whereabouts of these individuals, an official from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reportedly responded, “I don’t know.”

The confirmation from Antigua and Barbuda’s top diplomat in Washington highlights the ongoing immigration challenges affecting nationals of the twin-island nation, as U.S. authorities continue to process deportation cases.
