Attorney General and Minister for Labour, Hon. Sir Steadroy Benjamin, has firmly dismissed rumors regarding a government proposal for a four-day work week, clarifying that no such policy is being considered.
The idea, initially brought forward by Ralph Potter, President of The Peopleโs Union, aimed to enhance work-life balance. However, Sir Steadroy confirmed that there has been no Cabinet discussion on the matter, and the government has not endorsed any shift to a shorter work week.
โWhile some experts, including Labour Commissioner Eltonia Anthony Rojas, see potential benefits, this concept has not been officially entertained,โ he stated, addressing concerns from both employers and employees.
Sir Steadroy reassured the public, saying, โLet not your heart be troubledโthis is not part of the Governmentโs agenda.โ He emphasized that the focus remains on current labour policies rather than drastic changes to work schedules.
