Omar Rasool, a student from Ireland at the University of Health Sciences Antigua, is energizing the local community with touch rugby since his arrival in January. Organizing weekly scrimmages every Thursday night, he encourages both locals and expats to participate, creating a vibrant sporting community.
During the bustling yachting season, up to 40 players join in, reflecting the growing interest in the sport. Rasool envisions forming a dedicated Antiguan rugby team to compete in regional tournaments. He also plans to take the group on a tour to another Caribbean island known for its rugby culture. Committed to nurturing young talent, Rasool will remain in Antigua until December 2025 to continue his mission.
