Genesis Whitlock, an environmental science and economics student at Dickinson College, is set to represent the Caribbean at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan this November. Chosen as one of eight young delegates by the Caribbean Climate Justice Leaders Academy, Whitlock’s fully-funded trip is sponsored by Island Innovation.
In her final year at Dickinson College, Whitlock conducts research on climate justice, building on her impactful experience studying the Amazon rainforest in Peru. Her passion for addressing the Caribbean’s limited voice in climate discussions drives her goal to enhance communication and collaboration among environmental activists.
Whitlock’s deep-rooted connection to ecosystems began in her grandmother’s garden, where she realized her integral role in the environment. This foundation fuels her commitment to sustainability, gender justice, and food security within the climate justice framework.
