Antony Kurt Athill Appointed as Antigua and Barbuda’s New Information Commissioner

The House of Representatives in Antigua and Barbuda has approved Antony Kurt Athill as the new Information Commissioner.

This appointment, made under the Freedom of Information Act 2004, follows the recommendation of Prime Minister Gaston Browne and requires approval from both houses of Parliament.

Athill will start his three-year term on October 1, 2024, with an annual salary of EC $54,000.

The appointment was discussed by Browne and Opposition Leader MP Jamale Pringle.

This move is expected to enhance transparency and uphold the principles of the Freedom of Information Act.
