Nugent, Scott to compete in Paris Diamond League

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Sprint hurdler Ackera Nugent and triple jumper Jordan Scott will have their final preparation before next weekend’s Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) National Championships when they compete at Friday’s Meeting de Paris, a Diamond League meet.

Both athletes have been having outstanding seasons so far and are provisional favourites to win their events at the championships set to start on Thursday.

Nugent, the national record holder who is ranked number four in the world, will face another quality field that includes three other athletes ranked in the top 10 — American Grace Stark who ranked number three and edged Nugent in Stockholm, Sweden earlier in the week; former world record holder Kendra Harrison who is ranked number five; and world record holder Tobi Amusan of Nigeria.She will also compete against Bahamian Devynne Charlton.

 Likewise, Scott is enjoying his best season as a professional with more than one personal best performances and faces a strong field led by former Olympic champion Hugues Fabrice Zango of Burkino Faso, Lazaro Martinez of Cuba, Max Hess of Germany and the French pair of Melvin Raffin and Jonathan Seremes, all of whom have gone over 17.00m this year.
