Man injured in house fire after gas explosion

A man had to be treated at the hospital following a house fire in All Saints that started following an explosion after a cooking gas tank was turned on.

 

The man reportedly received an electric shock when he went to assist his sister extinguish the blaze, which reportedly started when the homeowner’s daughter went to turn on a new cooking gas.  A loud explosion followed and the fire flared up in the kitchen.

 

Emergency services transported the injured man to Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre via ambulance, where he received treatment and was later discharged.

Firefighters from the All-Saints Fire Station responded to the emergency call and the blaze was extinguished with assistance from family members, who used water and buckets to help combat the fire.

 

While the fire caused damage to several louvers, the kitchen wall, and the back of the stove, the extent of the damage appears to have been contained within the kitchen area.
