The body of 66-year-old George Julian Harry, a pensioner of Church of God Road, Buxton, East Coast Demerara was discovered on Friday morning in a trench.
Police Headquarters reported that the discovery was made at about 07:45hrs.
According to the report, Harry suffered from seizures and was a patient of the Georgetown Public Hospital.
His body was discovered floating face-down in the trench, clad in a black T-shirt, navy-blue long pants, and barefoot, with a watch on his left wrist.
Police said the body was examined and no marks of violence were observed on the most exposed areas.
An attending physician from Melanie Fire Station pronounced him dead at the scene.
The body was positively identified by Arita Phillander, a relative.
Several persons in the area were interviewed. The area was canvassed, and surveillance cameras were observed on a building opposite the scene. Statements are currently being obtained.
The body was subsequently transported to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home for storage, awaiting a Post-mortem Examination.
