The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) has begun major upgrade works along George Street, replacing existing pipelines with high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes to improve water quality and service delivery.
The project, currently underway between Popeshead Street and Marina Lane, is part of APUA’s ongoing infrastructure modernisation efforts through its Water Business Unit. The new HDPE pipes are expected to offer greater durability and resilience, reducing leakage and improving the overall reliability of the island’s water distribution system.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, APUA advised motorists and pedestrians to exercise caution while traveling through the area, warning of possible traffic disruptions during the course of the works. The Authority thanked the public for its patience and understanding, stating that the upgrade is a necessary step towards delivering better service to customers.
