If successful at the September 2025 poll, the A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) government, within three months of assuming office, will bring in the United States of America’s Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to probe the mysterious death of 11-year-old Adriana Younge. This is according to the APNU-aligned Chairman of the Region 10 Regional Democratic Council (RDC), Deron Adams.
During an interview with Lester Glen, Adams bemoaned the slothfulness of justice. He accused the government of denying the Younge family their request to have the U.S. law enforcement agency invited.
“The 11-year-old girl, who just wrote Common Entrance, didn’t get a chance to read the results as to which school she would have obtained, and we’ve seen this administration not showing a desire to have a thorough investigation by inviting the FBI, who the family would have requested,” the Chairman said.
“Upon assuming office, within the first three months, I can assure you – within the first month to three months – that the FBI will be invited to come and do a thorough investigation,” Adams, a member of the People’s National Congress Reform’s Central Executive Committee, said.
Younge was found dead in the pool of the Double Day Hotel at Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo, on April 23. A forensic autopsy was conducted by pathologists, at least one of whom was requested by the family. The findings showed that the child died of drowning. The pathologists also concluded that there was no evidence of trauma or sexual assault. The body was then handed over to the family.
Not satisfied, the family transported the body overseas for a second autopsy, which stated similar findings, but noted that the death was “suspicious”.
Meanwhile, the government contracted the services of an international expert investigator, Leonard McCoshen, a retired officer of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) to probe the case.
McCoshen’s report stated that there was no evidence of foul play. Guyana’s President, Dr Irfaan Ali, later said that he has held up his commitment to the family.
