Today is World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day

Message from Dr José Humphreys, President of the Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross Society

Today, as we join millions around the world to commemorate World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day 2025, we pause to honour the enduring spirit of humanity, impartiality, and compassion that defines our global Red Cross movement. Under this year’s theme, “Keeping Humanity Alive”, we are reminded of our shared commitment to stand with the most vulnerable—whether in times of disaster, health crises, or daily hardship.

Here in Antigua and Barbuda, the Red Cross continues to be a beacon of hope, resilience, and community service. From disaster response and first aid training to youth engagement and social support, our dedicated volunteers and staff work tirelessly to serve without discrimination. As climate change, migration, and health challenges increase across our region, we reaffirm our mission to be there—everywhere for everyone—guided by the fundamental principles that have stood the test of time.

I extend heartfelt gratitude to all our volunteers, partners, and supporters who help keep the flame of humanity burning. Let us continue to act with kindness, lead with courage, and strengthen our communities together.

Happy World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day!
