Ovals claim first game over Flyers in Best of Three Series in Division Two Playoffs

Former Champions Ovals Ojays secured a 75-62 victory over Flyers in Division Two Playoffs at JSC Sports Complex in the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association on Monday evening. Led by teenage sensation Tajahron Davis‘ game-high 28 points, Ovals controlled the contest from start to finish to claim the first match of the series.

Davis showcased his great form this season, shooting 10-for-25 from the field including three 3-pointers, while adding five rebounds and five assists. His performance was complemented by Tequan Brodie, who contributed 17 points on efficient shooting, going four-of-eight from two-point range.

The Ovals’ defense was the story of the game, forcing an astounding 40 turnovers from Flyers while recording 22 steals, scoring 25 points off those turnovers. Jayleyle Joseph was a force on the boards, pulling down 14 rebounds to help Ovals dominate second-chance opportunities.

Meanwhile, Flyers star Amare Browne struggled to find his rhythm despite leading his team with 16 points. Ovals established control early, building a 25-16 lead after the first quarter. They extended their advantage to 44-29 by halftime and maintained a comfortable cushion throughout the second half. Flyers showed signs of life in the fourth quarter, outscoring Ovals 24-18, but the deficit proved too large to overcome.

Both teams will clash again on Wednesday evening in the first match while All Saints Slam will take on Flyers in Division One at 8:30pm.
