Governor General Sir Rodney Williams was conferred with yet another Honorary Doctor of Medical Science degree conferred by the American University of Antigua (AUA) College of Medicine on Thursday.
In addition to this honour, Sir Rodney also served as the Keynote Speaker for the event, addressing the graduating class of medical professionals, underscoring the vital principles of ethical practice, continuous learning, empathy in patient care, and dedication to serving humanity.
This recognition by the university was a tribute to Sir Rodeny’s remarkable contributions as both a physician and a national leader.
Sir Rodney’s extensive four-decade career in medicine includes significant roles as an emergency medical physician, district medical officer, and an advocate for community-based healthcare.
Sir Rodney has served as a Member of Parliament for two decades, holding important ministerial portfolios in Education, Tourism, and Culture. Since his appointment as Governor General in 2014, he has promoted heritage preservation, social development, and education through various partnerships and patronage of over 40 organizations.
AUA said the honorary doctorate celebrates Sir Rodney’s unique legacy of both healing and leadership, aligning with its mission to foster excellence in global medical education and service.
