Freetown secured a comprehensive 54-run victory over Police in the ACB Caribbean Parish League Sir Richie Richardson Ltd. Overs Competition on Sunday at home.
After choosing to bat first, Freetown posted 162 for six from their allotted 25 overs, built around several key contributions from their top and middle order.
Jamal Fernandez led the scoring with a well-crafted 36, Delon Willscomplemented his effort with a brisk 34, while Cleton Payne added valuable runs in the middle order with his 26.
The Police bowling attack worked hard to contain Freetown’s batsmen, with Vincent Shadrach Jr. delivering an economical spell of one for 20 from his six overs. Jeron Jones also maintained good control, finishing with figures of one for 23 from his six-over allocation, while Trevorson Atley claimed one for 30 from 5.4.
Chasing 163 for victory, Police struggled to build momentum against a disciplined Freetown bowling attack, eventually being restricted to 108 for eight from their 25 overs.
Antone Willock was the standout performer with the ball, producing a devastating spell that yielded exceptional figures of three for nine from five overs. Payne followed up his batting contribution with a solid bowling performance, claiming two for 29 from his six overs to further dent Police’s hopes.
Despite the team’s struggles, Nevil Nicholls battled valiantly for POLICE with a determined 31, while Damon Valentine contributed 24 in a fighting effort. Veteran Vincent Shadrach Sr remained unbeaten on 14, but the required run rate had climbed too high for a realistic chance of victory.
Police were victorious the day earlier, blasting Mahico by 92 runs. They made 200 for three as Damon Valentine smashed an unbeaten 81 and Vincent Shadrach Jr cracked 66 not out from their 25 overs, while Mahico could only muster 108 for eight from the allotment.
