Authorities have confirmed the identity of the body found floating in Mamora Bay as that of a 40-year-old Lithuanian national. Police are withholding the man’s name pending notification of his family in Lithuania.
Investigators discovered the tourist’s body shortly after 7am on May 16. According to officials, the deceased had been scheduled to depart Antigua the previous day after arriving on the island on May 8.
Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death and a post mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
In the meantime, the police are appealing to anyone who may have information that could assist with this investigation to contact the Dockyard Police Station or the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at 462-3913/14.
