Roberts propels AGS while Watson guides Pares Secondary in schools cricket

Hosea Roberts performed with bat and ball to help lift Antigua Grammar School (AGS) to a comfortable 98 runs-triumph over Ottos Comprehensive School (OCS) in the under-19 division of the Cool & Smooth/Joma Caribbean Schools Cricket Competition on Tuesday.

Playing at Rising Sun, Roberts belted 87 to help lift AGS to 218 for four from their 30 overs. Leonaldo Ducreay made 36 not out while Shane Walsh added 16 not out to the winning effort. There was one wicket each for Kerique Mentore, Xavaek Toppin, Ondre Petersand Christopher Tate all bowling for the opposition.

Roberts, following success with the bat, returned to claim four wickets for just 14 runs in 5.4 overs as OCS were removed for 120. He had help from Matthrew Miller who bagged three wickets for two runs from just one over.

Vonde Bowers was the top performer for OCS with 39 runs while Mentore and Toppin added 25 and 17 runs respectively.

In the other under-19 clash contested on Tuesday, Pares Secondary School (PSS) dominated Jennings Secondary School (JSS) to win by nine wickets.

Jennings were removed for just 98 runs in 15 overs with J’Quan Athanaze hitting more than half of his team’s total with 50 runs for his half century. Tazio Watson did the damage with the ball for Pares, claiming six wickets for 20 runs from four overs. Tayaki Tongepicked up two for 24 from four overs.

When their turn at the crease arrived, Pares raced to 99 for one in 15.2 overs with Tonge hitting 46. Tazio Watson contributed with 32 not out.
