Police awarded semi-final victory after eligibility ruling

In a dramatic turn of events in the ACB Caribbean Parish League Cricket Dave Joseph’s Ltd Overs Competition, what initially appeared to be a convincing victory for Sea View Farm has been overturned due to player eligibility issues.

Sea View Farm had originally defeated Police by nine wickets in their semi-final clash. Police batted first and reached 115 for six, with Vincent Shadrach Jr (33) and Gary Duberry (21) making notable contributions. In response, Sea View Farm had seemingly cruised to victory, reaching 121/1 with Gershum Phillip (58 not out) and Tris Phillip (43 not out) steering them home with dominant batting performances.

However, the ACB Caribbean Parish League Cricket Committee has ruled that Sea View Farm fielded at least one ineligible player during the match. This action contravened the Parish League law regarding first-class players, which stipulates that such players must participate in a minimum of three matches in each competition to be eligible for playoff participation.

As a result of this violation, Police have been awarded the victory and will now advance to face Liberta Blackhawks in the best-of-three finals of the Dave Joseph’s Ltd Overs Competition. The first match is scheduled for Saturday at Ball Beef, Liberta.

This ruling serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to competition regulations and ensuring all players meet eligibility requirements before playoff matches.
