Old Road Daggers secured a narrow 62-61 victory over E Z Fit Flyers In a dramatic contest that went down to the wire in Second Division action of the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association on Monday night at the JSC Sports Complex.
The intensity of the match-up was evident throughout all four quarters, with multiple lead changes as the teams battled for supremacy. Old Road Daggers took the early advantage, leading 19-14 after the first quarter. They maintained their edge into halftime with a 30-27 advantage.
The third quarter saw a momentum shift as E Z Fit Flyers rallied to take a slim 47-46 lead heading into the final period. However, the Daggers responded in the decisive fourth quarter, ultimately securing the one-point victory with a final score of 62-61.
The Daggers were led by MP Kelvin Simon, who delivered a strong all-around performance with a team-high 19 points while collecting 15 rebounds (8 offensive) in a full 40 minutes of playing time. Kedar Clarke contributed 14 points and 14 rebounds, along with four assists and four steals.
For E Z Fit Flyers, Amare Browne matched Clarke with 14 points while dishing out seven assists. Harry Rashaun nearly secured a monster double-double with 13 points and an impressive game-high 22 rebounds, including five blocked shots in a standout defensive effort.
Turnovers proved costly for the Flyers, who committed 32 compared to the Daggers’ 18, allowing Old Road to overcome their shooting deficiencies and reclaim the lead when it mattered most.
Other notable contributors for Old Road included Tyndale Telemaque (10 points, 7 rebounds) and Jesus Lopez (8 points, 7 steals), while Tyrese White (11 points) provided additional scoring for the Flyers.
