A Jennings resident will spend the next two years in prison for possession of a modified nail gun and ammunition.
Steven Roberts had pleaded guilty to the charges when he appeared in the District B All Saints Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel last week. However, Magistrate Emanuel had postponed his sentencing until yesterday.
The illegal items were found during a search of his home after the police executed a search warrant on March 25, when he and a woman were taken into custody.
Information is that the lawmen found the weapon hidden in a closet which the two shared. Also discovered were two 9mm rounds of ammunition.
Charges against the woman were dropped after she pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Roberts, 32, in addition to the two-year sentence, also received jail time of six months for the ammunition possession.
The sentences run concurrently.
