Young Lions roar with twin hat-tricks in goal-filled Second Division Monday

The Antigua and Barbuda Football Association’s Second Division exploded with 22 goals across four matches on Monday, as Young Lions FC, Blackburn Palace, Guydadli FC and Bethesda FC all registered victories.

Young Lions FC delivered the most emphatic performance of the day, demolishing Glanvilles FC 8-0 at the Glanvilles playing field. The ruthless display featured a pair of hat-tricks, with Emery Horsford netting in the 22nd, 53rd, and 82nd minutes, while Zavier Joseph added three goals of his own in the 39th, 70th, and 79th minutes. Nasir Thomascontributed to the rout with a brace, finding the net in the 13th and 48th minutes to complete the commanding victory.

At Johnson’s Sports Complex, Blackburn Palace capitalized on an early advantage to secure a comfortable 5-0 win over CPSTA Wings. The match took an unusual turn before kickoff when Wings’ Dayon Hacketts received a red card, forcing his team to play with ten men from the start. Jaheer Pryce led the scoring for Palace with goals in the 30th and 68th minutes, while Jahmari George (63′), Malik Samuel (80′), and Sowandae Farrell (82′) rounded out the scoring.

Guydadli FC continued their strong campaign with a 4-1 victory over struggling Westham FC at PMS. Imani Joyce gave the visitors an early advantage with goals in the 3rd and 30th minutes, before Michael Peters secured the win with a late brace, scoring in the 78th and 82nd minutes. Vaughn Roberts managed a consolation goal for Westham in the 47th minute as their difficult season continued.

The scheduled match between Bethesda FC and Earthquakes ended in controversy when the Earthquakes team left the field without explanation. The match officials awarded the three points to Bethesda FC in accordance with league regulations.
