Police To Establish Missing Persons Unit Following Disappearance of Several Individuals

The police force is establishing a dedicated Missing Persons Unit as officers continue an extensive search for nine-year-old Chantel Crump, who was reported missing on Tuesday evening.

Acting Commissioner of Police Everton Jeffers confirmed that the new unit would focus on all missing persons cases, not just Chantel’s disappearance, as concerns grow over the increasing number of such incidents.

“We are very concerned about this particular phenomenon that seems to be happening,” Jeffers said. “As we speak, we are putting together a team that will be responsible solely for missing persons—from whenever to the present.”

The police have been searching for Chantel since last night and are now concentrating efforts on the eastern end of the island based on new leads. Officers are urging the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity that could assist in locating her.

“When you see a car behaving suspiciously, take the number, the type of car, and the colour,” Jeffers advised. “At least if something happens, you can provide crucial details to investigators.”

The force has also appealed for public assistance, encouraging anyone with information to contact them immediately at 462-3913 or 462-3914.

“The police cannot do it alone,” Jeffers added. “We need the public on board. Our duty is to take care of you, but we can only do it with your help.”

Authorities have assured the public of regular updates through press releases and conferences as they intensify efforts to find Chantel and others who have gone missing.
