Landerfort Stars as PIC Liberta Blackhawks Demolish CMW New Winthorpes Lions

Defending Champions PIC Liberta Blackhawks secured a dominant innings and 42 runs victory over CMW New Winthorpes Lions in the seventh round of the ABCA Two Day Competition, with Chamiqueko Landerfort delivering a match-winning performance by claiming ten wickets across both innings in the top-of-the-table clash. The Lions at home were dismissed for just 113 in their first innings, as Landerfort ripped through their batting lineup with five for 30 with Hayden Walsh Jr collecting three for 25. In response, Blackhawks posted a commanding 308 all out in 52.2 overs, with Malique Walsh (68), Kofi James (53), and Joshua Thomas (47) making valuable contributions.  The home side could only get to 153 in their second innings, with Demari Benta offering resistance with an unbeaten 65. However, Landerfort continued his destructive form, claiming another five for 45, while Javier Spencersupported with four for 44, ensuring a comprehensive innings and 42-run victory for the Blackhawks. The win cements the Blackhawks dominance this season and are likely to retain the title with two rounds to go.

At the Rising Sun Grounds, Empire Nation also were victors by an innings margin when they made light work of the WES Rising Sun Spartans in a comprehensive performance. The Spartans could only muster 119 in their first innings despite Ryshon Williams‘ fighting 60 (52 balls), as Justin Athanaze three for no runs and Michael Harilall three for seven dismantled their batting lineup. Responding to the Spartans first innings score, the Nation declared at 330 for 6 as Tyrone Williams Jr hammered 170 runs off 136 balls with 19 fours and six maximums, well supported by Damian Lowenfield (61) and captain Kenrick Scott (37).

The Spartans then reached 139 in their second innings with Williams again top-scoring with 58, while Harilall claimed six for 64 and Micah McKenzietook three for 51, completing a dominant display from Empire Nation.

Bolans Blasters, led by captain Taiem Tonge, registered their first outright win of the season, defeating Pigotts Crushers by six wickets. A tactical decision to open with Dwaine Fordyce alongside Mervin Higgins paid immediate dividends when Fordyce removed top batsman Uri Smith for a golden duck.

The Crushers collapsed to 23/5 and were bowled out for just 55 runs, with Fordyce taking four for 22, Richie Thomas three for six, and Ondre Peterstwo for 11. Bolans Blasters responded with 141 in their first innings, led by Tonge’s aggressive 60 (4 fours, 6 sixes). Though Pigotts managed only 124 in their second innings with Smith bouncing back to score 56, it was Orlando Peters who starred with the ball taking seven for 22. The Blasters comfortably chased down the required 39 runs with six wickets to spare.

At the Factory Cricket Ground, the Golden Eagles batted first and posted 121 all out in 39.2 overs, with Shacoy Floyd and captain Tehrique Mason each contributing 29 runs. Kaivalya Mishra was the pick of the bowlers for Tertiary Institutions & Schools, claiming six wickets for 32 runs.

In response, Tertiary Institutions & Schools were restricted to 92 all out in 32 overs. Antwone Willock top-scored with 27 runs, while captain Mishra made 23. In-form bowler James Cornelius led the Eagles’ bowling attack with impressive figures of five for 25 in 11 overs, while captain Tehrique Mason supported with four for 14 in five overs.

With a 29-run lead, the Golden Eagles built on their advantage in the second innings, declaring at 191/6 in 45.4 overs. Mason showcased his batting prowess with a magnificent 82 off 83 balls, including 10 fours and a six. Floyd continued his good form with 41 runs, while Tron Payne contributed 39. Mishra again led the bowling effort with 4/65.

Chasing a challenging target of 221, Tertiary Institutions & Schools could only manage 134 in 45.4 overs. Xanden Hobson fought hard with 33 runs, and Ronaldo Antigua added 27, but the Golden Eagles’ bowlers maintained their discipline. Mason claimed four 65, while Cornelius matched him with four for 23 in 14.4 overs, ensuring a comfortable 86-run victory and their first of the season.

At Jennings, what promised to be an exciting contest between the Jennings Tigers and All Saints Pythons ended prematurely after it was rumoured that a fight broke out between members of the opposing team. The home side posted 170 all out in 40.3 overs thanks to Glenton Williams 52, Paul Miller 33, and Shane Burton 28. Alzarri Joseph was outstanding with the ball for the Pythons, claiming six for 50.

In reply, the Pythons were dismissed for 133, falling 37 runs short despite Joseph’s aggressive 49 off just 25 balls (2 fours, 5 sixes) and contributions from Demetri Lucas (33) and Kenny Sutton (31). Williams led the Tigers’ bowling attack with four wickets, while Burton, Zavier Freeland, and Matthew Miller each claimed two wickets, ensuring a well-earned first innings victory for the Tigers.
