Team Antigua and Barbuda, up until Saturday evening, secured one gold and two silver medals in the Caribbean Boxing Championships being held at the Beausejour Indoor Facility in St. Lucia.
Taliek Henry, fighting in the final of the Novice 60kg, defeated St Lucia’s Gerald Aiden to take the gold medal. However, Shantol Johnson and Osahar Browne were unlucky to have not joined their teammate in the golden corner but came away with silver in their respective categories.
Johnson went under to Guyana’s Alicia Jackman in the final of the Women’s Elite 75kg division while 16-year-old Browne won silver in the 92kg division.
On Friday night, DeSilva punched his way to a split decision over Trinidad and Tobago’s Neraj Mahaseosingh in the semi-final round of the Elite 60kg division while veteran Joshua Toussaint was unlucky, losing via split decision to Donnel Phillip of T&T.
Leon Laudat and DeSilver, were set to compete in finals Sunday night as they brought the curtains down on this year’s championships.
