Two 30-year-old women from Clare Hall have been remanded to His Majesty’s Prison pending sentencing today after pleading guilty to larceny charges in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Tichelle James and Shania Martin appeared before Magistrate Dane Hamilton where they admitted to stealing approximately $1,100 worth of merchandise from a Redcliffe Street store last week.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on February 26, when the women entered the store and allegedly took multiple items including six pairs of shoes, two pairs of shorts, six pairs of socks, a dress, a T-shirt, and various other clothing items.
The theft was discovered when the store owner noticed merchandise visibly protruding from one of the women’s bags as they exited the establishment.
The suspects were followed to Redcliffe Quay, where the stolen items were recovered before contacting authorities.
Following their arrest, James and Martin were jointly charged with larceny.
