A court has adjourned the committal proceedings for a woman suspected of masterminding an elaborate “box hand” fraud scheme.
Keithesha Edwards, who is in her early 20s, is charged with multiple counts of obtaining money under false pretences through an alleged “box hand” scheme that leveraged social media advertising and personal recommendations to attract investors.
It is alleged that the operation promised high returns and appeared to be credible.
Edwards is accused of defrauding a prominent businessman who reportedly invested $42,000, as well as two additional individuals who collectively lost approximately $10,000. She is further alleged to have fraudulently converted around $15,000 from three other persons.
The young woman appeared before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel on Monday but her committal was adjourned.
