St John’s, Antigua & Barbuda – The Antigua and Barbuda Workers’ Union (ABWU) has expressed its deep sorrow following the passing of Sir Robert Barrett, a key figure in the country’s hospitality sector.
In a statement, the union described Sir Robert as a “visionary and stalwart” whose contributions to the hotel industry helped shape tourism in Antigua and Barbuda while creating employment opportunities for hundreds of residents.
The ABWU acknowledged his long-standing role in labour negotiations, highlighting the mutual respect and commitment that defined their discussions over the years.
“Our engagements at the negotiating table have been marked by mutual respect and a shared commitment to securing fair and beneficial outcomes for the workers we represent within his companies,” the statement read.
