Team Antigua and Barbuda, on Sunday night, added two more gold medals on the final day of the Caribbean Boxing Championships held in St. Lucia over the weekend, bringing the country’s haul to three gold, two silver and one bronze over the three days of competition.
Uriah DeSilva and Leon Laudat ensured Antigua and Barbuda finished the championships on a winning note with gold medals. Laudat was triumphant in the final of the Youth 75kg Division, defeating Luke Teasdale of Trinidad & Tobago while DeSilver was victorious in the Elite 60kg Division. DeSilver defeated Donaal Cooman of St. Lucia.
On Saturday, Antigua and Barbuda had secured one gold and two silver medals at the championships held at the Beausejour Indoor Facility.

Taliek Henry, fighting in the final of the Novice 60kg, defeated St. Lucia’s Gerald Aiden to take the gold medal. Shantol Johnson and Osahar Browne were, however, unlucky to have not joined their teammate in the golden corner but came away with silver in their respective categories.
Johnson went under to Guyana’s Alicia Jackman in the final of the Women’s Elite 75kg division while 16-year-old Browne won silver in the 92kg division.
On Friday night, DeSilva punched his way to a split decision over Trinidad and Tobago’s Neraj Mahaseosingh in the semi-final round of the Elite 60kg division while veteran Joshua Toussaint was unlucky, losing via split decision to Donnel Phillip of T&T.
Guyana emerged winners of this year’s championships with Trinidad & Tobago second and St. Lucia in third. Antigua and Barbuda finished fourth overall.
