The Trinidad and Tobago Divas successfully chased down their target against the Leeward Islands, reaching 190 for six in 47.3 overs to secure victory on Wednesday at Conaree Park.
The Leeward Islands Women batted first, with a strong start from their top order, thanks to the heroics of Reniece Boyce who top-scored with 76 runs from 84 balls, including 4 fours and 4 sixes at an impressive strike rate of 90. They were cruising at 175 for four before losing the final six wickets for 13 runs, failing to bat their full quota overs. They were eventually bowled for 188 all out in 45.3 overs. Shawnisha Hector (35) and Divya Saxena (32) made valuable contributions to the total, while the team lost regular wickets through their innings.
Amrita Ramtahal was the standout bowler for Trinidad and Tobago, claiming four wickets, while Anisa Mohammed picked up three wickets with an economical bowling rate of 3.06 runs per over.
In response, Trinidad and Tobago’s chase was masterfully led by Britney Cooper, who scored a match-winning 72 runs off 107 balls, including seven fours. She received solid support from Lee-Ann Kirby, who remained unbeaten on 41 runs, striking at a rate of 111 with three fours and three sixes. Anisa Mohammed also made a significant contribution with 32 runs.
For the Leeward Islands, West Indies Under 19 allrounder Jahzara Claxton was the most successful bowler, taking two wickets, while Kimberly Anthony and Sainavi Kambalapalli each claimed a wicket. The Leeward Islands Women will meet Guyana on Friday at Warner Park in search of their first win.
