Northside Stingerz were relegated to their fourth Division 1 loss this season as action in the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association league continued at the JSC basketball complex on Sunday.
Contesting the feature game of a double-header, Stingers were edged 78-71 by Spanish Heat as they kept their title hopes alive.
Stingerz started on a high note, outscoring their opponents 20-16 before Spanish Heat rebounded to claim the second and third quarters 21-15 and 22-16 respectively. Stringerz claimed the fourth and final quarter 20-19.
Daniel Perez had the hot hand for Spanish Heat, sinking 23 points on 11 of 16 shooting off the bench, while gabbing five rebounds. Danny Perez was also in fine form with 16 points and eight rebounds while Steven Matthew contributed with 15 points and four rebounds. Coy Quinland added 12 points and six rebounds to the winning effort.

For Stingerz, Ammiel Williams led with 23 points and seven rebounds. There were contributions of 17 and 16 points from Te-Ran Zachariah and Jaheem James respectively. Zachariah also grabbed 18 rebounds while James had 16.
In Sunday’s opening clash, Tshawn Lewis registered a game-high of 25 points and collected an astonishing 21 rebounds to help guide Da Project to a comfortable 81-67 triumph over Ottos Full Throttle.
Lewis enjoyed a 64 shooting percentage from two-point range on 11 of 17 shooting while grabbing 15 defensive and six offensive rebounds during his 40 minutes on the court. He had help from Donte Trimingham who sank 15 points on six of 12 shooting.
In a losing effort, Akeem Davis hit eight of his 24 attempts from two-point range, amassing 20 points while getting seven rebounds for Full Throttle. Morlon Davis contributed with 15 points and six rebounds while Warren Bogle amassed 14 points and pulled eight rebounds.
