Minister says Digitize Immigration Forms for Faster Airport Processing

The  Antigua and Barbuda government is set to introduce an electronic arrival card system at the airport, eliminating the need for paper-based immigration forms.

Tourism Minister Charles Fernandez revealed the plan during a recent interview on Pointe FM, stating that the transition to digital forms aims to streamline airport processing, making it more efficient for visitors entering the country.

“Hopefully, we’ll get that up and running, so travelers no longer need to fill out long forms. They’ll be able to complete the process on their phones or other devices, which will significantly speed up entry at the airport,” Fernandez explained.

The move aligns with Antigua and Barbuda’s broader digital transformation efforts to modernize its tourism infrastructure and enhance the visitor experience.

The minister highlighted that embracing technology will allow the country to remain competitive in the global travel industry.

While Fernandez did not provide a specific timeline for implementation, he emphasized that the government is working to ensure a seamless rollout of the system.

The initiative is expected to reduce congestion at immigration checkpoints, making the arrival process smoother for both tourists and returning residents.
