Flyers 2 recorded a massive 98-59 triumph over Ottos Warriors as they rebounded from a narrow loss to Potters Steelers in Division 1 of the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) competition on Thursday.
Flyers dominated the contest from start to finish at the JSC basketball complex, leading 18-17 at the end of the first quarter. The defending champions took control in the second quarter, outscoring Warriors 28-11. Flyers continued to dominate in the third with a 22-13 margin before claiming the final quarter 30-18.
Selassie Brathwaite was the big man on campus for Flyers, sinking 23 points on nine of 14 shooting while grabbing 14 rebounds. He had welcomed assistance from Adonis Humphreys with 17 points and 17 rebounds. Xavier Meade contributed with 14 points and eight rebounds while there were 13 points each from Javonte Daley and Najee George. Daley also had eight rebounds and 10 assists. Kwame Brathwaite chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds.
In a losing effort, Kebo Orford and Lincoln Weekes both had 13 points for Warriors. Weekes also snatched seven rebounds while Orford picked up four.
In the other Division 1 game contested Thursday, Da Project defeated All Saints Slam 75-67 despite a game-high of 26 points from Humroy Wright.
Slam started strong, outscoring Da Project 15-12 and 27-17 in the first and second quarters to lead 42-29 at the half. Da Project however rebounded to take the final two quarters 24-17 and 22-8 and claim the eight-point triumph.
Donte Trimingham was the lead performer for Da Project with 21 points and 10 rebounds while Tshawn Lewis chipped in with 20 points and nine rebounds. There was 13 points and nine rebounds from Bryan Matthew while Olivee Morris picked up 12 points and four rebounds off the bench.
