Takeem Martin of Fearless Crew and Kedar Clarke of Old Road Daggers were the top performers in the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Division 2 league on Wednesday as they led their teams to comfortable wins in the race for promotion to Division 1.
Contesting the opening game of a double-header at the JSC Basketball Complex, Fearless Crew were 74-47 winners over Cristos United with Martin getting a game-high of 19 points while also grabbing an astonishing 19 rebounds. He enjoyed seven of 19 shooting with a 36 percent field gold percentage.
Martin was assisted by Rafiki Harris with 16 points and eight rebounds with Joel Christianadding 13 points and six rebounds. Joshua Morrison added 12 points and grabbed five rebounds in the winning effort.
In their loss, Dwayne Samuel led the scoring for Cristos United with 18 points and eight rebounds while Neville Chambers added 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
In the night’s feature clash, Old Road Daggers enjoyed a 70-65 victory over Spanish Heat 2, their third of the competition.
Clarke was the chief contributor for Daggers with 17 points on eight of 14 shooting. Clarke also grabbed five rebounds. There were 16 points for Devea Aaron on seven of 11 shooting while grabbing seven rebounds. Kelvin “Shugy” Simon contributed with 13 points and 14 rebounds while Craig Thomas added 10 points and 14 rebounds.
In a losing effort, Jesus Emmanuel shot a game-high of 18 points while grabbing 12 rebounds. Carlos Suarez contributed with 15 points while Erwin Rodriguez and Wester Baptiste both picked up 12 points. Baptiste also picked up six rebounds while Rodriguez grabbed eight.
