Dr. Knolly Hill Honoured with the Governor General’s Faithful and Meritorious Service Cross

His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams, Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda, presented the Governor General’s Faithful and Meritorious Service Cross to Dr. Knolly Hill at an Investiture Ceremony held at Government House on Tuesday, in the presence of his family, friends, and well-wishers.

 

 

The Faithful and Meritorious Service Awards are conferred by the Governor General to individuals who have rendered outstanding long service to an organization or humanity or have performed one or more meritorious acts. The Faithful and Meritorious Service Cross is the highest rank in this category and is reserved for distinguished contributions to national development.

Dr. Hill was recognized for his exceptional contributions to cultural development, particularly in the field of music and choral excellence. Throughout his life, he has played a pivotal role in preserving and advancing choral music in Antigua and Barbuda and beyond. His dedication to fostering musical excellence has made a lasting impact on the cultural and artistic landscape of the nation.

His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams, in his remarks, highlighted Dr. Hill’s impressive academic and professional journey. A duly qualified psychologist, Dr. Hill obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1985 and has been a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania since 1979. He holds Fellowship and Diplomate status with the American Board of Medical Psychotherapists and Psychodiagnosticians and is an accredited Senior Disability Analyst with the American Board of Disability Analysts.

 

 

Despite his professional accomplishments in psychology, Dr. Hill has remained deeply committed to music and choral development, dedicating his time and talent to ensuring that generations of Antiguans and Barbudans continue to appreciate and uphold the nation’s rich musical heritage.

The citation, read by the Herald, detailed Dr. Hill’s unwavering dedication to cultural preservation, mentorship, and leadership in the field of music. His passion for developing choral traditions has made him a respected figure in the cultural community.
