Community members give back, donate medals towinners of Liberta Primary School’s Sport Day events

Three members of the Liberta community have given back through a donation of medals to the Liberta Primary School, which were distributed to winners of the school’s recently held Sports Day activity.

Wayne Benjamin Marsh, the prospective United Progressive Party (UPP) caretaker for the St Paul Constituency, along with Denmore Roberts of the Liberta Sports Club, and teacher/physiotherapist Gregson Matthew, all came together to sponsor the medals for the school’s Sports Day event held a week ago.

As a result of the gesture, the school’s students and staff expressed their gratitude to the trio during assembly.

While offering words of encouragement, Marsh told the students that although some of them shone brightly by winning several medals, they must always remember that their winnings would not be possible without all those who participated in the events.

“Without them, it would not be possible for you to be wearing these medals.” Marsh said, while encouraging those who did not earn medals. “Not getting any medal on that day was only another opportunity for them to medal on the next occasion,” he said.

Marsh told Observer media that the Liberta Primary School is a very special institution to him and he intends to continue to partner with the institution by contributing towards its development in whatever way he can.

Meanwhile, Marsh is expressing concern about the conditions of the school and the Liberta Sports Club.

Marsh, an attorney, said that he is baffled at the lack of attention paid to both the school and the sports club “when so much talent comes from these institutions”.

“I have attended several meetings at the school over the years and I am always saddened by the condition of the school plant and, in short order, I will be making myself and the resources available to ensure that some of the classrooms get a facelift, and I encourage the community to join with me in this endeavour,” he said.
