Prime Minister John Briceño has called for general elections in Belize, setting the date for March 12, 2025.
The announcement came today from the Office of the Prime Minister in Belmopan.
Following his advice to the Governor General, the National Assembly of Belize was dissolved on today.
The electoral process will begin with Nomination Day scheduled for February 24, when political parties will formally register their candidates.
The announcement gives political parties exactly one month from today to campaign before voter’s head to the polls.
