Antigua and Barbuda Signals Upgrades for the Botanical Gardens

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has indicated plans to revamp the Botanical Gardens, aiming to enhance the historic site as a public attraction.

Speaking on Pointe FM, Browne acknowledged calls for improvements and confirmed that discussions are underway to upgrade the space. Suggestions include restoring green areas, introducing new plant species, and adding recreational features to make the gardens more appealing to visitors.

The initiative is expected to mirror upgrades seen in other regional botanical gardens, which have become popular sites for education, tourism, and community events.

Browne stated that the government would assess the necessary investments to restore the gardens while ensuring accessibility for the public.

The Botanical Gardens, located in St. John’s, have historically served as a key green space but have seen limited maintenance in recent years.

Officials are now looking at ways to transform the site into a well-maintained natural retreat.
