Antiguan all-rounder Amanda Edwards will lead a robust Leeward Islands Women’s Team in this year’s CG United Women’s Super50 Cup, slated to run from February 24 to March 7 in St. Kitts.
Edwards will skipper the 14-member squad which includes three other Antiguan players in the likes of the experienced Shawnisha Hector who would have represented the West Indies Senior Women’s team back in 2019. The pacer bowled two overs for 19 runs against India Women’s here in Antigua.
The other Antiguans in the squad are rising stars Kimberly Anthony and Chey-Anne Moses.

Six teams, including Leeward Islands, will compete in this year’s tournament. The other teams are defending champions Jamaica, Barbados, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago and Windward Islands.
Defending Champions Jamaica will bowl off their campaign against Trinidad & Tobago at Warner Park on Monday while Leeward Islands take on the Windward Islands also on Monday. Barbados will face Guyana also on Monday.
“For the first time, the entire women’s tournament will be broadcast live on ESPN Caribbean, bringing the action to fans across the region. All preliminary round matches and the final at Warner Park will be televised, marking a historic milestone for women’s cricket in the Caribbean. This year, the teams will be vying for a championship prize of US$ 30,000 with the runners-up securing US$15,000,” a release for CWI stated.
Matches will start at 10am daily.
