A young Jamaican inmate, Chinlee Robertson, was found unresponsive on his bed early this morning.
The head of prisons, Trevor Pennyfeather, has confirmed Robertson’s death, stating that it is too early to determine the cause. Officers from the Criminal Investigations Department are currently on the scene conducting inquiries into the incident.
Robertson had been on remand for the larceny of a cell phone. Sources reveal that he appeared in the magistrate’s court yesterday for further remand. Although he was expected to be released on bail, the process was delayed due to the unavailability of his passport.
We will provide updates on this developing story as more details become available.
