Rotor tiller Training Advances Agricultural Innovation in Antigua

The Greencastle Agricultural Station came alive on January 20,2025, as agricultural technicians from the Ministry of Agriculture, gathered for a hands on training session on the operation and maintenance of rotor tillers. This initiative, part of the Long Ping High Tech Agricultural Mechanization program is proof of Antigua and Barbuda’s commitment to integrating modern technology into its agricultural practices.

Participants included representatives from the Agricultural Extension Division, ADC Diamonds Estate, Christian Valley Agricultural Station, Cades Bay Pineapple Station, and Greencastle Agricultural Station. Facilitated by the ministry of Agriculture, the session aimed to provide practical skills in tiller operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting to improve soil preparation techniques.

In 2024 the Long Ping High tech Corporation, donated five (5) rotor tillers to the Ministry of Agriculture. By introducing tools like rotor tillers, the initiative seeks to assist the enhancement of productivity and sustainability in our agricultural sector. These machines, capable of streamlining soil preparation, are essential for key crops such as the Antigua Black Pineapple, sweet potatoes, and other vegetables.
Attendees enjoyed the hands on approach, highlighting how the training bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

The rotor tiller training marks another milestone in the Ministry’s collaboration with Long Ping high Tech, reflecting a shared vision of empowering the agricultural sector with cutting-edge solutions.
This program is part of a broader effort to achieve sustainable food security through technology and training. With the successful completion of the session, the Ministry of Agriculture continues to champion the integration of high-tech tool, ensuring that farmers are equipped to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing agricultural landscape.
