Advisory in Effect: Minor Flooding Expected

A Flash Flood Advisory is currently in effect for low-lying and flood-prone areas of Antigua, valid until 4 PM today.

Key Points:

  • Flooding Risk: Streams, creeks, and drains may overflow, leading to minor flooding in affected areas. While property damage is expected to be minimal, caution is advised.
  • Safety Reminder: Just one foot of flowing water can sweep vehicles off the road. If you encounter flooded roads, remember: Turn around, don’t drown. Move to higher ground.

Current Conditions:

  • Heavy showers influenced by daytime heating have resulted in up to 2 inches of rain on the southwestern side of the island in the past 1.5 hours. An additional inch or more may fall in the next 2 hours.

Monitoring and Updates:

The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services will continue to monitor the situation. For further information, please call 463-4638 or tune in to local radio and TV stations.
