Alfa Nero Yacht Finally Leaves Antigua After Long Legal Standstill

The Alfa Nero yacht has set sail from Antigua and Barbuda after being idle for over two years. It is now owned by a Turkish billionaire who bought it for $40 million, down from an initial auction price of $67 million.

Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt had previously won the bid but withdrew due to legal complications.

The yacht was seized by the Antiguan government following the invasion of Ukraine in 2022 and was linked to sanctioned Russian oligarch Andrey Guryev.

While the sale has finally occurred, legal challenges continue to linger around the case.
