Mottley to speak at major water conference

Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley is expected to speak on the urgent need for action on water sector resilience in the face of the impacts of climate change during a major water conference next week.

The Caribbean Water Conference is being held at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre under the theme “Water is Life” from June 7-8.

It will bring together stakeholders from governments, regional institutions, the private sector, civil society, and academia.

The goals are to strengthen Caribbean countries, reduce their vulnerability to shocks, improve their responsiveness, and increase their ability to rebound after natural disasters.

The conference is being hosted by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in partnership with the Ministry of Transport, Works and Water Resources and the Barbados Water Authority.
