The Police are being kept busy with the spate of robberies, burglaries and break-ins taking place around the island.
A Gambles man and a Fort Road woman are the two most recent victims of robbery, during which they were relieved of money and other valuables.
Reports say the male victim reported to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) that he was robbed of a backpack containing his wallet and government-issued ID’s by a masked gunman.
This offence is said to have occurred at about 4 a.m. on Labour Day, May 1, while the victim was in The Point.
Further reports say the man was walking home, when a man came up behind him demanding money.
The victim reportedly turned and saw a man – about 5 feet 10 inches tall, of a slim build, dressed in dark clothing, and with a dark-coloured cloth covering his face – standing behind him, armed with a black gun.
The offender relieved the man of his possessions and then ran off in a northern direction.
A search for the alleged robber was carried out in the surrounding area, but without success. But inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
Meanwhile, the 32-year-old Fort Road resident reported to the CID that she had been robbed, at gunpoint, of her iPhone 12 Pro Max and an undisclosed sum of Eastern Caribbean currency.
Reports say the woman was walking from east to west in the vicinity of Harpy’s Superette, on Fort Road, and sending a voice note on her phone, when an unknown man approached her.
He allegedly pointed and cranked a dark-coloured handgun at her and demanded, “Give me everything you have.”
It is alleged that the gunman then searched her and took her phone and money.
The perpetrator is said to be about 6 feet in height, of a slim build, fair in complexion, and was dressed in a pink floral shirt, a black tam, and dark-coloured jeans; however, he was not wearing any shoes.
A search was carried out in the surrounding areas, but no one fitting the description was found. This offence reportedly occurred at about 3:30 a.m. on May 1. (Real News
