Progressive Youth marks its arrival on the landscape with attention to mental health, with radio talk show coming soon

A donation of toiletry kits has been made to patients of the Clarevue Psychiatric Hospital by Progressive Youth, a new group of young activists.

The group explains that one of its core beliefs is that by starting conversations about mental health, the stigma associated with it will be reduced.  This, in turn, increases the likelihood that young people will seek care.

Headed by Ayanna Baptiste, Guishonne Powell, and Lexianne Abraham-Powell, Progressive Youth seeks to educate, empower, and support families – and the community at large – to understand and care for young people’s mental health.

As part of its social outreach, Progressive Youth also plans to host a weekly talk programme dubbed “All Jokes Aside,” which is aimed at engaging young people on topics that interest and affect them.

The talk show premieres on Sunday, April 3, and will address the challenges of, and solutions for, mental-health issues among the young.

It will be live-streamed on several social-media platforms, including YouTube, Facebook and Instagram, and carried on Progressive 107.3 FM.(Real News)
